American tenor Victor Robertson is the only person ever to make his Metropolitan Opera debut, Broadway debut, and Kennedy Center debut all in the same season. His recent successes include the role of Nestor in the world premiere of Castor and Patience by Gregory Spears at Cincinnati Opera. He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Elijah Mohammed and “Street” in Anthony Davis’s The Life and Times of Malcolm X at Detroit Opera, and has recently performed in Central Park Five with Portland Opera, Alfredo in La Traviata with Opera Orlando. He originated the role of Hosea Williams in Douglas Tappin’s I Dream with Opera Carolina in 2018 and 2020. Victor made his Metropolitan Opera debut in their new 2018 production of Merry Widow as Raoul, and in the same year, his Broadway debut in its longest running show, Phantom of the Opera.

He created the role of Benny “Kid” Paret in Terence Blanchard’s celebrated Champion in its world premiere in 2017 at Opera Theatre of St. Louis, going on to perform the role at the Washington National Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre and L’Opera de Montreal. He has performed his signature role, Count Almaviva Il barbiere di Siviglia, with Minnesota Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, Manitoba Opera, Portland Opera, Arizona Opera, Opera Carolina, Sarasota Opera, Coeur D’Alene Opera, Toledo Opera and with Santa Cruz Symphony. Other career highlights include Candide at Opera National de Lorraine in France, Rodolfo in Francesca Zambello’s La Boheme at Royal Albert Hall in London, Euremedes in Orpheus at New York City Opera, and Sportin’ Life in Zambello’s production of Porgy and Bess. Upcoming engagements include The Life and Times of Malcolm X with Opera Omaha and the Metropolitan Opera and the role of Lucano in .L’incoronazione di Poppea by Monteverdi at Spoleto Festival. Victor made his professional debut in Baz Luhrmann’s Rent, an adaptation of Puccini’s La Bohème, for which he won the coveted Ovation Award.
