2020 Summer Workshop Details

Now taking place digitally!

Presented in partnership with Northwest School of the Arts, the Music-Drama Workshop is a two-week engagement featuring tailored instruction for the aspiring singing actor and theater technician.


The 2-Week Singing Actor Track will include elementary instruction in stage combat, stagecraft skills, movement, musical interpretation & improvisation, breathing techniques, and care of the voice. In addition to regular class instruction, students may also qualify (if they choose) to participate in master classes.

Two levels of participation are offered for the Singing-Actor Track:

  • Standard – provides all of the sessions and content listed above
  • All Access – provides all of the sessions and content above + one-on-one private lesson each week and access to special break out sessions.

The 1-Week Technical Theater Track will include scenic and lighting fundamentals, stage management, digital production and collaboration with singing actors.

*Prior opera experience is not required to participate in the Workshop or in the recital.

Workshop Dates & Location

Singing-Actor Track: July 20-31

  • Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 10am-12pm & 2pm-4pm
  • Tuesday/Thursday: 2pm-4pm

Technical Theater Track: July 27-31

  • Monday – Friday: 12pm-2pm


Workshop Auditions & Enrollment

Previous Workshop participants may register immediately for the 2020 Workshop and do not need to audition.

New students must audition/apply and be accepted into the program before they may register.

Workshop Tuition

Singing Actor Tuition:

  • Standard: $125
  • All Access: $250

Technical Theater Tuition:

  • $85
