A Message from The Maestro

Art in a Time of Crisis

Thank you for your patience and continued support as we navigate through the many challenges the coronavirus pandemic has presented. For the past five months, we have been carefully monitoring government guidelines and recommendations from scientists and health professionals. It has been important that we not pre-judge or underestimate the seriousness of this health emergency.

After careful consideration, the Board of Directors has approved the realignment of the 2020/2021 Opera Carolina season.

In the meantime

While we work together to remain safe and optimistic for the future, we encourage you to enjoy our new iStream series and the many small-scale performances and special events we are planning this season.

Our staff will be contacting every season subscriber to discuss the options for your tickets. As always, we will do our best to honor the value of your season tickets.

Health and safety

The safety of the public and the performing company has been paramount in our decision-making process. Opera Carolina patrons have come to expect a level of performance from our company that is important to maintain. Because of the challenges for the health and safety of audiences and performers, postponing Tosca and Aida is a better option than presenting performances we’re not proud of.

We couldn’t do it without you.

We ask for your support at this critical time in the life of our company and our community.

With your help, we will emerge from this crisis and once again come together as an arts-loving community to enjoy the beauty of live opera.

Belk Theater performances

Our productions of Tosca and Aida are being postponed until the 2021/22 season. The I Dream performances scheduled for January 2021 are being moved to the April period previously held for Aida.

This year’s Bella Notte, our annual fall gala, has been cancelled. We are now focusing on Bella Notte 2021, which will be held on stage at the Belk Theater on November 6, 2021.
