Michael Owens

Michael Owens will begin his second year as a Resident Artist at Opera Carolina in the 2022-2023 season. The season begins with his chorus involvement in Tosca, followed by his role debut of Gastone in La Traviata. Michael will also cover the role of Alfredo in La Traviata as part of his developmental studies.

The 2021-2022 season was Michael’s first with Opera Carolina, and he was heavily involved in every major production as the company re-opened its doors after the pandemic. Credits include chorus involvement in I Dream, Don Giovanni, The Falling And The Rising, and role debut of The Messenger in Aida.

Michael studied vocal performance in Charleston, SC, where he began his operatic pursuit with the role of Chevalier De La Force in Dialogues of the Carmelites. Michael is also a concert soloist, having made past appearances in Handel’s Messiah and Dixit Dominus, as well as Dubois’ The Seven Last Words of Christ. Michael also appeared in scenes as Nemorino in L’elisir D’amore, and Alfredo in La Traviata.
