Jones is a Grand Rapids native who comes from two musical families. Her predecessors made their mark in the music industry through groups such as The Wings of Faith, The Pilgrim Wonders, The Pilgrim Angels, and The Wonder Boyz. Under their influence her love for music was birthed. Fueled by that passion she’s traveled the world and sang background for world-renowned artists such as Marvin Sapp, Maurice Griffin, and Jessica Reedy, as well as local artist such as and Greg Peacock, Maurice Townsend, and The Isaac Norris Project. Avalon is known for her vocal versatility performing in genres such as musicals, R & B, jazz, gospel, and most recently classical. Avalon is currently a music major studying Vocal Performance at Grand Rapids Community College. Quickly becoming one of the college’s top achievers, Avalon’s been chosen to perform at The Honors Recitals and received multiple awards. However, she is more than just a singer. She has been credited for writing songs such as “Joy Will Come”, “For your Grace”, “ This Joy”, and “Just Fine” for local artist Debra Perry and Majestic Praise and Michael Essex and Vision. Not only can she sing and write, but she can also arrange music, most recently arranging background vocals for Debra Perry and Majestic Praises live recording. Avalon has appeared on “The Word Network” with east coast artist David Metayer and also on “Bobby Jones Gospel” with artist Jon Plair: set to air late November of 2015. She’s also received international- notoriety on the “Oh Happy Day Tour”, a 14-city tour of Spain and Portugal, performing with the Alabama Gospel Choir. To sum it up, a choirgirl with quartet roots who loves jazz harmonies while performing classical with a neo soul vibe, meet Avalon Cutts-Jones.
